Tara Griggs, LMSW

taraTara Griggs, LMSW, specializes in working with children birth to twelve and their families.  Tara believes in treating the family as a whole and will involve parents as well as siblings in treatment to achieve desired outcomes.

Tara’s goal is to strengthen the parent/child relationship and as a result Tara believes that undesirable behaviors will decrease and both the child and the parent will be happier.  Tara has specialized training in treating children birth to five with their parents and has a certificate in Infant/Family Clinical practice.

Sometimes children’s behaviors are rooted in negative experiences that have affected them emotionally and behaviorally.  In these instances Tara uses Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help children process through these difficult situations.

For the past six years Tara has provided therapeutic services in various settings including the office, at school, and in the home. Tara has extensive knowledge of school policy and has helped advocate for children as well as educate teachers in working with children who might benefit from an alternative discipline style.

Tara’s loving and understanding personality has helped her to connect with children as well as parents who have been resistant to treatment. Tara believes in creating an environment where children can feel safe, loved, and accepted.
